Thinking about Retirement? See CNN Money's #1 Spot

If you're starting to think about where you would like to live when you retire, check out this article from CNN Money.com http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/moneymag/0909/gallery.bpretire_top25.moneymag/index.html

The #1 spot goes to Port Charlotte, Florida. I can attest to the natural beauty of the area - our office is located in Port Charlotte. From our vantage point on the second floor we see the gorgeous ospreys as they swoop to the canal to grab a fish for breakfast. The tropical beauty is everywhere to be seen - palm trees, flowers, and birds of all types. Port Charlotte's motto used to be "the best kept secret" - but maybe not for long!

Save $$$ - Outsource Your Bookkeeping

There are many reasons to have your bookkeeping done by an outsourced bookkeeper. A few of those reasons include:

  1. Saves money: No need to hire an employee and incur the associated costs such as payroll taxes, benefits, training costs, etc. And you pay only for time spent working on your books.

  2. Saves time: By turning your bookkeeping over to a qualified bookkeeper you can spend your time productively on your business.

  3. Saves headaches: No more worries about balancing the checkbook, getting invoices out to customers, getting payroll done on time, etc.

DeLegal Group provides professional outsourced bookkeeping. To find out more about our services see our post on Corkin at http://www.corkin.com/Profile/view.cfm?userid=58589 Also, for more information, contact us at info@delegalgroup.com.

Wearing Too Many Hats?

Are you spending your time effectively or are you too busy and wearing lots of different hats that don’t even fit very well? If you are wearing a bookkeeper hat you have less time for the tasks that are going to promote and grow your business. Why not spend more of your time doing what you love and what you went into business to do?

We want to wear your bookkeeping hat because that is what we love to do. When you outsource your bookkeeping duties to us you will never have to worry about sorting receipts and balancing checkbooks again. We would love to hear from you. Send us an email at info@delegalgroup.com or see our posting on Corkin for more information about us. Also, follow us at twitter.com/BookkeeperPC.

Remembering Hurricane Charley

Five years ago today all of us who live and work on the Southwest coast of Florida started taking another look at a hurricane spinning in the Atlantic. We all knew that hurricanes didn't make landfall in this area... hadn't at least, since Donna in 1960. The weather reports the evening of Aug. 12th repeatedly were saying Tampa was the expected place of landfall. However, those of us who are of the more cautious nature decided to at least make a few preparations.

The unexpected happened and Hurricane Charley made landfall over Punta Gorda the afternoon of Aug. 13th. Those of us who experienced it first hand will always remember all of the details of that day and the days that followed.

Our office was deemed uninhabitable as a large section of the roof and most of the rest of the shingles had been torn off. I remember walking into our steaming, sweltering hot, dark office the next day and seeing water drip through the flourescent light fixtures from the ceiling. No power, no air conditioning... Uninhabitable, indeed.

Fortunately someone in our office (ironically named Charlie) did believe the hurricane was going to come here and we had covered our computers. A kind and generous friend of our company offered us a small office space (in a building in Punta Gorda that was in surprisingly great shape). We relocated there for three months while our building was renovated.

I checked the tropical weather today and there are a couple of areas the forecasters are watching for possible development. I think I'll keep a close eye on them.

Twitter at the Top

Social media has taken center stage as businesses seek cost effective ways to promote products and services. One exceptional benefit of using social media is the ease of staying in contact with a company's customer base with up to the minute information. Development of new contacts is fun and easy. Delightfully short and sweet in message style, Twitter is at the top of the list of social media platforms for Fortune 100 companies. See this week's article from Mashable - The Social Media Guide http://mashable.com/2009/08/03/twitter-fortune-100/ . Also, follow DeLegal group on Twitter at http://twitter.com/BookkeeperPC

Tips for Outsourcing Your Small Business Needs

Small businesses have traditionally outsourced payroll and human recources. Given today's technology, owners can utilize outside facilitators for an even greater variety of tasks. This article gives an example of outsourcing bookkeeping duties. Instead of hiring a full charge bookkeeper, outsource the work and potentially save $30,000 per year. There are also excellent tips on how to target other tasks your company could outsource, how to begin, and more.
